TikTok tightens music usage rules for commercial content from 25 July 2025.

This applies to all videos with a promotional purpose, such as advertisements, product placements, or paid collaborations.

Such content will no longer be allowed to use regular trending sounds. Instead, music must be sourced from TikTok’s official Commercial Music Library or a valid music licence must be provided.

For creators with mixed content (both commercial and non-commercial), the following applies: Regular sounds may still be used – but only in organic videos and only with a Creator Account. Business Accounts will no longer have access to regular sounds.

Commercial content must be clearly distinguishable from organic posts. TikTok may mute or remove videos with unlicensed music. In the worst case, legal consequences may follow.

Our advice

  • Use only licensed music or tracks from the Commercial Music Library for collaborations.

  • Keep your account as a Creator Account if you post mixed content.
